John & Katherine

In Petworth --- 1600s
Was when they first did meet
Rescuing her from the rain
As she walked down the street

From there a Love would blossom
As their hearts became One
Although their love forbidden
Listening to none

They would meet in secret
Her parents did not agree
With this young man, John Baron
His spirit -- bold yet free

One day at their meeting place
John --- he did not show
About them --- had he changed his mind ?
Poor Katherine did not know

While working at the hospital
To aid the sick and dying
Katherine saw a sick bed
In which her John was lying

She nursed him and cradled him
Disguising all her fears
She fought so hard to save him
While shedding silent tears

Then it was that he was gone
Katherine left in her own gloom
Taken to her aunt's house
And locked up in a room

Given drugs to calm her down
Her aunt -- she played her part
Katherine at last succumbing
They say -- to a broken heart

John and Katherine --- Soul Mates
Their love would stand the test of time
Spanning through the centuries
Together hearts entwined

For in this present time line
Came a muso and a poet
John Baron had resurfaced
Although Katherine didn't know it

Jewelle, as she was called now
Had a family of her own
Although a peice inside her
Had always felt alone

Photographs of this time
Reflect a saddened face
Perhaps a soul longing for
Another time and place ?

Memories through lifetimes
Buried way down deep inside
As buried on a sandy shore
Against a rolling tide

When in December 1980
On a New York street
Into John Lennon shots were fired
As a killer he did meet

For Jewelle --- her heart was broken
Yet she could not understand
The depth at which she grieved him
This legend music man

This would take Jewelle on a journey
Like she'd never known before
Leading her back to Petworth
Back to John and Katherine's door

At last they were reunited
These lovers from long ago
This love that survived the centuries
A love that continues to grow.
